Over the years, the EU has negotiated with several trade partners a number of bilateral agreements (GIs Agreements, Free Trade Agreement with a GI chapter, Cooperation Agreement with implications for GIs, etc…) for the recognition of European GIs in key export markets (such agreements also provide for the recognition of third countries’ GIs in the EU). Where do we stand today with such agreements? We have come up with a summary, including agreements concluded but not ratified as we as those under negotiations.
