On October 28, in the framework of the Conference on “Branding Strategies” organized in Tbilisi by the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia (SAKPATENTI) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), “oriGIn Georgia”, another national antenna of the global alliance of GIs was established. On behalf of oriGIn, the agreement was signed by Robert Scholz, Vice President of oriGIn and Legal Counsel at the Bavaria Brewers Association. Georgia counts today 41 recognized GIs. The objective of oriGIn Georgia is to support potential GIs (130 products have been already identified, among these: Colchian Hazelnut, Rachan Ham, Kharagauli Caesar’s Mushroom, Choporti Tomato, Lagodekhi Watermelon, Colchian Laurel, Khelvachauri Tangerine, Tabatsquri Carrot and Marneuli Potato).
This summary has been extracted from an “oriGIn Alert”, which is a service reserved exclusively to oriGIn members.
