Every year, on April 26, the WIPO and the world intellectual property community celebrate the World IP day. The 2020 edition is dedicated to IP rights at the heart of efforts to create a green future.
At oriGIn, we all share the idea that sustainability represents a crucial issue for the future of our planet, even more after the COVID-19 pandemic, and that GIs are in a privileged position to respond to the social, environmental and economic challenges brought about by sustainability.
We therefore encourage all of you to celebrate the 2020 World IP Day, the forthcoming 26 April, by issuing press releases, giving interviews, carrying out social media campaigns around the following idea: As Geographical Indications (GIs) products form an integral part of their communities and contribute to preserving local natural resources, they play an important role in building a more sustainable future.
You can use and personalize the WIPO card created for this occasion (see also the way oriGIn has adapted it for its campaign), mention data and success stories about the GI you represent, and use the hashtags #worldipday and #oriGInforsustainability
