“EXPO Milan 2015: Feeding the Planet – Energy for Life” is a non-commercial Universal Exposition. It will be open from May 1 to October 31, 2015, and it is expected to welcome over 20 million visitors. During this event, the Government of Italy intends to finalize “the Charter of Milan”, an act of commitment to be signed by citizens, institutions, businesses and associations as the contribution of EXPO Milan 2015 to the debate on the new United Nations Millennium Development Goals.
In this framework, over 500 experts (divided in 4 macro thematic areas and some 40 working groups) gathered in Milan on 7 February for the “Expo of Ideas”, with the objective to launch the discussions, which will lead to the Charter of Milan. oriGIn, through its Managing Director Massimo Vittori, its Vice-President Riccardo Deserti (Director of the “Consorzio Parmigiano-Reggiano”) and a member of the Executive Committee Fernando Cano (Representative for Europe of the “Consejo Regulador del Tequila”) brought the point of views of GIs at the Expo of Ideas working groups on “sustainability of agriculture” and “fighting agricultural products’ counterfeiting”.
