oriGIn is the global alliance of GI groups and institutions dedicated to:
- Campaigning for robust protection of GI in national laws and international treaties; and
- Promoting a model of managing value chains which is poised to respond to the emerging economic, social and environmental challenges.
Starting in 2022, once a year, oriGIn will monitor the major trends affecting, and the sentiment of, small and medium GIs worldwide through a survey sent to the associations representing some 20 GIs within its network which sell mainly to their local and national market.
The survey contains 10 questions which require no more than 10 minutes to be answered. No figures are to be provided (expect turn-over), but only trends and expectations. Five core questions will be permanently part of the survey (1 to 5); the second group of five questions (6 to 10) will change depending on the international economic scenario.
This initiative has the objective to strengthen the common identity of small and medium GIs worldwide as well as support the voice of GIs advocacy campaigns vis-à-vis policymakers.
