oriGIn panel discussion on the “Challenges for GIs and country names in the Internet domain names’ environment”, Geneva, 3 October 2016
You are cordially invited to join oriGIn on October 3 in Geneva, at 1 pm (at the WIPO New Building, 34, chemin des Colombettes, Room 0.107), for a panel discussion on the “Challenges for Geographical Indications (GIs) and country names in the Internet domain names’ environment”.
With the representatives of “Comité Champagne”, “Consorzio del Prosciutto di Parma” and the “Association Française pour le Nommage Internet en Coopération” (AFNIC), we will be discussing the current challenges faced by groups and national authorities in ensuring an effective protection of GIs and country names in the Internet domain names’ environment as well as a strategy to improve the current situation.
The panel discussion will be held in the framework of the fifty-sixth Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). A light lunch will be served at 1 pm before the beginning of the panel at 01h30.
