The Tequila Regulatory Council A.C. (CRT) celebrated the 30th Anniversary of the CRT and the 50th Anniversary of the appellation of origin “Tequila”, in Guadalajara (Mexico), on April 25th and 26th, 2024.
The program provided a series of interesting activities, including the international seminar “Developments in Geographical Indications: Latest Trends and Global Challenges”, where international experts, including oriGIn and some of its members, discussed relevant topics for the GI sector:
- Importance of protection for GIs and DOs in the new regulatory framework of the European Union.
- The Geneva Act.
- Sustainability of GI products.
- The importance of conformity assessment in the development of GIs and DOs.
Some 400 participants attended the seminar, including representatives of the most relevant Mexican media.
On 25 April, at the occasion of the celebrations in Guadalajara, oriGIn presented its 2024 ‘GI Trends’ Panel, an annual survey aimed at monitoring the major economic trends affecting, and the sentiment of, Geographical Indications (GIs) worldwide. On 26 April, oriGIn and the Consejo Regulador del Tequila released a video for the World IP Day 2024.
