Dear members and oriGIn community,
Our 2023 biennial meeting will finally take place in Geneva on 5, 6 and 7 October 2023. Unfortunately, the recent devastating climatic events affecting Peru (Cyclone Yaku and El Niño Costero), which have also imposed the Peruvian Government a relocation of resources, do not allow oriGIn to hold the 2023 meeting in Paracas as announced earlier this year.
As the security of our members and partners is our primary concern, we have decided to hold our biennial meeting in Geneva, which is the oriGIn headquarters as well as one of the international capitals of global governance for intellectual property, trade and sustainable development. Given the several assets offered by Geneva, we are committed to organize once again a unique learning and networking opportunity. In this respect, please note the following dates in your agendas:
- 5 October 2023: Statutory oriGIn General Assembly;
- 6 October 2023: International Conference on GIs. Trend topics (among others): The Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement, Non-agricultural GIs, climate change and its impact on GIs, brand and labelling restrictions affecting GIs;
- 7 October: field visits.
We will soon provide you with more details about the venue of each of these events. Meanwhile, please find here a list of hotels in Geneva to make your reservation asap (all hotels in this list are relatively close to the potential venues under consideration, which are in the UN neighborhood).
Many thanks for your continuous support to oriGIn. We look forward to meeting with you in Geneva later this year.
Kind regards,
Riccardo Deserti, President – Massimo Vittori, Managing Director
