On 10-11 October, the global Geographical Indications community met again in Geneva for the 2024 oriGIn Expert Meeting. During two days of debate and networking, 180 participants from 35 countries discussed crucial topics related to GI protection and enforcement, from the WIPO Lisbon System and bilateral agreements to challenges in GI registration, conflict with trademarks, evocation beyond the EU, GI used as ingredients, issues related to competition law and online protection.
All presentations delivered during the event as well as the complete list of groups, law firms, organizations and experts who have attended it, are available on our web page at : https://www.origin-gi.com/10-11-10-2024-origins-expert-meeting-on-the-latest-developments-and-challenges-related-to-gi-protection-and-enforcement/
oriGIn would like to thank the participants, the speakers as well as the institutions which supported our 2024 Expert Meeting: The Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI), the “Association suisse des AOP-IGP”, the “Interprofession du Gruyère”, the Scotch Whisky Association (SWA) and the “Asociación Interamericana de la Propriedad Intelectual” (ASIPI).
With the WIPO Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement attracting an increasing number of countries – and the presence of several intergovernmental organizations, NGOs and private companies working on intellectual property, agriculture, crafts and sustainable development – Geneva can be considered the international capital of GIs.
