From 27 to 29 November 2024, the Brazilian Support Service for Micro and Small Enterprises (SEBRAE), in partnership with the Brazilian National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) through its project AL-INVEST Verde IPR, organized in São Paulo the 6th edition of “Origens Brasileiras”, one of Brazil’s most significant GI events.
Brazilian and international GI stakeholders gathered in São Paulo to discuss local development and sustainability issues and share their experience. In this context, in collaboration with the Industrial Property Office of France (INPI), a workshop specifically dedicated to the protection craft GIs was also held.
On 28 November, Federico Moncunill – Director of the group representing the PGIs “Jijona y Turrón de Alicante” and member of the oriGIn Board – delivered a key-note speech on the role of GIs in promoting sustainable local development. He also welcomed SEBRAE in the oriGIn global network as a new associate member. SEBRAE will ensure the coordination between oriGIn and Brazilian GI producers to promote the exchange of best practices in the fields of protection, enforcement, controls and sustainability practices.
